REACH program overview

Program Overview

The REACH membership and training program is a unique and cost effective educational tool that will stabilize and enrich your affordable housing community. The trainings and opportunities to network will cover current issues and present the most up-to-date information on a wide variety of affordable housing management topics. In addition, upon request REACH membership will provide on-site resident trainings and activities.

REACH members have unlimited access to all training classes without being required to pay registration fees. Membership is on a per property basis. Owners/managers may elect to join as many properties as they chose; it is not on an all or nothing basis. Anyone affiliated with the member property, i.e. owner, manager, office staff, maintenance staff, etc., may attend as many trainings as they feel would be beneficial. The membership fee for 12 months is only $7.50 per unit per property.

    Management Trainings

Trainings offered through REACH membership give your staff the necessary knowledge to address and handle social and regulatory issues affecting community housing residents of all age and population groups.

Trainings include such topics as managing insurance costs, Section 8 compliance, tenant/landlord legal updates, tenant selection, marketing plans, combining Section 8 with Tax Credit, recognizing illegal drug use and what to do about it, preparing for a REAC inspection and elderly aging in place, to name just a few.

REACH wants to make training accessible to everyone, regardless of location. Many REACH training sessions are offered at CHFA's office, located in downtown Denver; however, training sessions are also scheduled at sites throughout Colorado.

    Resident Trainings

REACH membership also includes one on-site resident training, on a topic of your choice, for every 50 units in your development.

Sample topics include fitness and well being, family and leisure time, personal and professional development and elderly/disabled services. Based on availability, resident programs may be customized to your community's specific needs or concerns and can be easily adjusted to appeal to residents of all ages and backgrounds. Call the REACH Program Coordinator at 303.297.7394 to schedule a training session for your residents.
